They are both the extension of the ARF32 range (Class 2 Bluetooth® module for data transmission) and are available in audio digital and audio analogue versions.
As the data version, these modules are Bluetooth V2 “End Product” certified; meaning users are able to directly use the Bluetooth® logo. Data transmission and configuration are both managed through UART-type TTL serial interface. The air rate is 723kbps. Miniature antenna is included. Audio versions also offer an SCO connection that supports HFP, HSP and HSAG Audio Gateway profiles; the Audio Gateway module can directly link with every Bluetooth headset on the market. On mobile site, a hands-free headset can be designed by simply adding a microphone and earphone. These Bluetooth® audio modules have been recently selected by a Spanish wireless motorcycle helmet producer to be used by the Barcelona police.
The base station modification will allow motorcycle riders to be in communication with a radio base station directly from the motorcycle, without requiring the use of any cables.
The hands-free system is made up of earphones and a microphone linked to the ARF32 analogue audio Bluetooth® module in the helmet, as well as a Bluetooth® AudioGateway interface on the motorcycle’s PMR transmitter-receiver, which enables connectivity with the communication centre.
As well as providing an improvement in safety while driving, this device will allow the motorcycle rider to be able to drive much further away than before while remaining in contact with the radio network
