NORWOOD, Mass. – May 12, 2009 – ADMET Inc., a provider of integrated materials testing systems, is introducing a new line of torsion testing machines, controllers and accessories. Called eXpert 81T, the torsion testers are table top units with capacities to 200 Nm (1,800 lb-in). The length of the test bed, servo motor and gearing is modified to accommodate varying specimen lengths, capacities and test speeds. A reaction torque transducer is attached to a movable tail stock mounted on a linear slide. The tail stock can be left free floating or clamped during testing.
The eXpert 81T is ideal for torsion testing bone, catheters, elastomers, fasteners, joints, metals, orthopaedic devices, plastics, shafts, small components, vascular devices, wire and more. Users wishing to perform biaxial tests in tension/compression and torsion have several options. When the tail stock of the eXpert 81T is left free floating, the user can apply an axial pre-load to the specimen using a weight and pulley
arrangement. The eXpert 81T can also be equipped with a second linear actuator for applying tension and compression forces.
The new line of torsion testers complements ADMET’s full line of single- and dual-column tensile testers.
