An addition to the Aqua portfolio

Alfa Laval launched a new tap water heater based on a 2-Port valve configuration in June 2009 to extend its Aqua portfolio.
The AquaFlow/AquaStore 2-Port tap water heater is specially designed
to connect to a district heating network in a city or town as it can withstand higher temperatures and pressures.

These units can provide large quantities of instantaneous or semi-instantaneous domestic hot water to apartment buildings, hospitals, schools, hotels and other collective installations.

The system works based on the exchange of heat from the primary hot water (which comes from the district heating network at, for example,
110 degrees) to the secondary or domestic cold water. This water is subsequently warmed to 60 degrees for domestic use.

Just as in the previous range of Aqua products, different types of plate
heat exchangers can be used including copper-brazed, gasketed or fusion-bonded (like the 100 percent stainless AlfaNova) depending on customer preferences.

The unit can either be self-acting – thermostat-regulated – or electronically controlled. A built-in safety function closes the valves in case of a power shortage or in case of too high water temperatures.

Additional features of the controls include early warning for scaling, thermal treatment and a complete set of temperature programs for various applications.

Previously, AquaFlow and AquaStore tap water heating systems were only available in 3-Port or 4-Port valve configurations for connection to local boilers on a site. Now, both these systems can work with district heating networks that requires only a 2-Port valve configuration.

The system is delivered fully assembled, tested and ready to run when connected to a power supply and piping.
