A firm specialized in satellite locating systems asked APEM for a large pushbutton with a 17 mm actuator specifications. This emergency pushbutton is used in trucks and is the interface of an electronic embedded box.
Once activated, a GPRS signal is sent by the box and the surveillance center can locate the truck.
The APEM SA solution was a function 2 (Normally closed) IP-based custom product.
2 new parts were created:
• a plunger with the 17 mm diameter
• a raised frame, which prevents inadvertent actuation or may have the function of a finger-guide
A third mould was developed by APEM SA for the protection of the wired outputs. The moulded cover has an electrical insulation function.
The flat surface of the button enabled a hot-stamping process with a white professional film for the specific customer logo. This marking is more environment-resistant than a padprinting process.
