With its latest version 5.1, the most recent E-planning tool of Aucotec AG, Engineering Base (EB), is fit for the adoption of the existing data from other members of the Aucotec product family. In return a priority in the further development of Elcad/Aucoplan and Ruplan was to prepare them for the transfer of their data to EB. Thus the Hanover-based system house rings in the next phase of its path into the future with the database-driven and object-oriented platform EB. However, it is entirely up to the customers when to carry out the change to the next engineering generation.

In addition, the wiring wizard of the new EB 5.1 enables the creation of wiring information without the detour via circuit diagrams. And EB's new terminal editor considerably facilitates the equipment and modification of the terminal blocks – without additional programs. The entire material can be completely defined independent of the manufacturer. In instrumentation, wizards now also see to the easy and consistent specifications such as pipe class, hook-ups and specifications.

Work is moreover made easier by the improved revision with detection of graphic changes, the improved DWG/DXF import/export and the diagram output in the PDF/a format. The license management can now optionally be administered centrally in the network or at the individual workstations, a feature that considerably diminishes the administrative effort. In symbol design the graphic representation options were extended e.g. by dictionary texts and shape sizing handles. And especially users with international business ties can profit from the new configuration of the cross-references.
