The acyclic Profibus DP-V1 services enable the connected field devices to access the data, including operating data and operation parameters. This also applies to AUMA actuators.
The concept allows for online integration of actuator operating data, such as running times or number of starts, into a maintenance concept, performing remote diagnosis or optimising operation parameters without the need to be present at the actuator.
From the DCS point of view, two concepts have become established, Simatic PDM and FDT. With both technologies, the user can easily and consistently access data from all participating fieldbus devices. The field device manufacturer requires an Electronic Device Description (EDD) for the Simatic PDM concept and a Device Type Manager (DTM) for the FDT concept.
