New in the BOS Q08M miniature opto series

Balluff series BOS Q08M miniature opto sensors stand out with their rugged, block-style metal housing and their compact form factor. They are ideal wherever components with light weight, a small footprint and the highest switching precision are demanded, such as on robot gripper arms and mini-grippers. New in this mini-opto family are a laser through-beam model and a fixed-focus version.

With a Class 1 rating, the laser through-beam sensor reliably detects even the smallest parts down to 0.28 mm, making it the right choice for demanding positioning tasks. The sensor features a tightly bundled laser beam and a working range of up to 3 meters for attachment on machine components where space is at a premium.

The new FixFocus version is based on the newest pinpoint technology and is especially easy to place in service with its sensing range fixed at 50 mm. The directed light beam permits exact positioning and prevents mutual interference when sensors are located close together. Thanks to an extremely low gray value shift the sensor detects objects regardless of their color, shape and surface composition. Objects outside the detection range are reliably ignored.

The laser through-beam sensor has a normally open function with a PNP output. The FixFocus version is available with NPN or PNP output, light-on or dark-on switching, and with cable or pigtail. A 3-pin M8 connector is also available.

Just released is also a patented clamp for fast, flush-mount positioning of the 8 x 8 sensors in aluminum profiles. The holder, which is compatible both Item and Bosch profiles, is simply inserted into the slot from above and fixed in place by turning a screw. Thanks to its bomb-proof attachment, it allows the sensors to go places previously limited to fork sensors, especially when suitable intermediate sizes were not available.
