After two exceptional boom years, Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik GmbH expects a noticeable slowdown of the market. The Bad Oeynhausen extrusion equip-ment manufacturer is facing this development calmly, and its Managing Direc-tor, Wolfgang Studener, considers his company well prepared to meet the future: “We will continue to score in growth markets with our innovative ma-chinery solutions.”

Between 2005 and 2007, the market for both film and sheet coextruders and pipe and profile extrusion equipment grew by about 30 %. “The above-average growth achieved by Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik during this period abundantly proves that our restructuring strategy which we initiated five years ago was right and successful”, notes Studener with satisfaction. After the substantial expansion of global production capacity in all areas of extrusion, he now expects demand to slacken and even contract in some areas. “We think that the overall market for extrusion equipment will shrink by about 10 to 12% over the next two years following the peak in 2006/2007. This will mean a noticeable decline, but still on a high level.”
