Current Sense Module for Drive Technology

Current Sense Module for Drive Technology

A space saving very cost efficient current sensing module for potential free simultaneous sensing of two motor currents.
The motor currents can be sensed simultaneously and electrically isolated from each other. The sensing is directly in the motor phases by simply routing the motor phases through the module. Ideal application fields are power drives for stepper motors suppliers, BLDC motors (EC-Motors) or servo motors, whenever two motor currents must be sensed simultaneously. The module is complete and requires only one supply voltage of 5V. The current sensing and processing electronic are electrically isolated from each other. The SingleInLine-housing requires very little space and the user can simply implement the circuit into his application.
The current sensing module was designed especially for power drives up to approximately +/- 10Amps (20 Amp peak). It features good electrical parameters such as a low offset drift within the entire temperature range. In combination with modern signal processors at power on and current zero the offset can be detected and used for further current sensing without further offset correction. At zero current the output voltage is 2.5V. By simply connecting a load resistor of 10kOhm the sensing range can be set to 3.3V (i.e. 1.65V at current zero), which is commonly used in modern processor technology.
