The BURGO GROUP presents itself, as a benchmark partner in the graphic printing and editorial sectors and, last but not least energy and environmental sectors. It is not by chance that sustainable development is embedded in BURGO GROUP's philosophy and present in all paper processes, from the return of effluent water to the optimization and reuse of waste energy for paper production.
The BURGO GROUP, trusting in its capacity to adapt to market evolutions, is a growing system that expands around the world of paper. Production, distribution, paper recycling and the processing of forestall products, research, planning and engineering of paper mills and also factoring and energy. Businesses that are articulated with dedicated brand totaling significant figures: 13 paper mills, 23 production lines, approximately 3,000,000 tons of paper per year, 2 sales networks, 5 branches, 6,000 million KWh of energy administered, investments totaling €118,000,000 and a turnover of approximately +4% in 2007.
The BURGO Energy Business Unit was set up in 2003 and is responsible for all relevant activities, in order to develop the company in the energy sector.
The unit performs in several areas including: Industrial areas, where the activities are focused to increase the installed power, the development of transporting systems along with the company's own power lines and improvements to operational, maintenance and control systems.
Energy management, where the activities are concentrated on the centralized management of production and consumption billing, on the metering, balancing and distribution of electricity and on the logistics management of natural gas distribution according to the best cost/service compromise for the hourly planning of production at the Group's plants. Sales areas, where the activities are performed by BURGO ENERGIA Srl which manages domestic and international
electricity and excess production of the Group's power plants, selling it to other non-self sufficient paper mills within the Group, the free market (industrial customers, wholesalers) and traders.
