Canongate Launching ST1A into LPG Market

Canongate Technology Ltd based in Edinburgh will be launching the enhanced version of it's VesselCheck ST1A level measurement gauge at the AEGPL exhibition in Vienna on May 13-15th 2009. The company has been using ultrasound technology in a variety of applications, mainly in the brewing industry, for over twenty years. The latest ST series system has been specifically designed to meet the requirements of LPG vessels and a number of leading LPG suppliers are already using the technology, says Iain Crolla, Internal Sales and Marketing Manager at the company.
A small ultrsonic transceiver is bonded to the outside shell of the vessel using specific industrial strength adhesives. The ST1A transmitter then uses echo-sounding technology to calculate the time taken for the transmitted ultrasonic signal to return to the transceiver from the liquid surface. The transmitter temperature compensates the signal and calculates the liquid height from the transit time. The height is then output as an analogue or digital signal for display and/or use by other supervisory systems.
The VesselCheck ST1A's new features include enhanced compensation for temperature variations, an ATEX approved display option, battery powered versions, a low power consumption feature and several new output options."The benefits of non-invasive level gauging are well established and they are just as relevant for the VesselCheck ST1A. There is no interruption during installation as sensors are bonded to the external wall of the vessel; maintenance is easy as everything is external to the vessel, it can be easily programmed for most vessels and the cost of both purchase and ownership is low".
