With METROTOM® 1500, Oberkochen-based Carl Zeiss Industrial Metrology offers a powerful computer tomograph for industrial quality assurance. It provides access to the interior of workpieces that are inaccessible for contact and optical sensors. METROTOM is used to check the structure of materials and also measures exterior features. Metrotomography can be used for assembly checks and material inspections, as well as damage, porosity and defect analyses. Large plastic parts up to 350 mm can be inspected using METROTOM.

As with all 3D coordinate measurement machines, the operator can also take advantage of the numerous benefits of CAD-based ZEISS CALYPSO® measuring software which was adapted to meet the specific requirements of Metrotomography® from Carl Zeiss. The computer tomographic inspection of workpieces is very fast. CALYPSO measuring software provides support, for example, when comparing nominal geometries in areas where it had only been possible to conduct visual inspections. The measuring results from CALYPSO enable continuous monitoring of development up to initial sampling. Using HOLOS® NT freeform software, METROTOM 1500 can also generate CAD models.
