More Safety for the Construction of Micro Medical Devices: F25 from Carl Zeiss

With the F25, Carl Zeiss offers a measuring system that meets the extreme accuracy requirements for the quality assurance of micro-parts for medical devices. The F25 permits the determination of the size, form and position of parts created through micro-machining. The F25 can measure geometries that are only a few tenths of a millimeter in size.

Within the one cubic decimeter measuring volume of the 3D measurement machine, the measuring uncertainty is 250 nm at a resolution of 7.5 nm. Using minimal probing forces, this resolution, along with optimum control of the linear drives, enables contact measurements even in bores less than one millimeter. An optical transducer is available for 2D measurements. Microscope suppliers professional lenses have been optimized to measure micro-parts. A professional camera provides support during probing of the tiny features, thus simplifying part programming.

CALYPSO® CAD-based professional software is ideal for 3D measurements of micro-parts whose features can hardly be seen with the naked eye. Measuring programs are programmed with CAD and tested remotely for collisions and travel paths before the measurement. This ensures that the tiny stylus can reach all features without disruption. With CALYPSO, any number of features can be selected from the entire measuring program and selectively measured – a decisive advantage during detail measurements for the monitoring of the progress of professional production.
