Chloride Power Protection has recently been selected by M&E contractor Lorne Stewart to provide critical back up power for the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency’s (DVLA) two new data centres in Swansea.
Based at the DVLA headquarters, the first new data centre will have 3 x Chloride 90-NET 500KVA UPS modules installed. Working in modular parallel redundant mode these have been selected with 20 minute batteries to match the load requirements and interface with the existing systems. The agency’s second new data centre will have the same 90-NET 500KVA UPS units but here, Chloride will also be supplying a new 2.5MVA prime rated diesel generator system, complete with 24,000 litre capacity bunded bulk fuel tank. Due to space restrictions this system has been custom designed to fit into a 12 metre enclosure.
Chloride’s project sales team commented, “our capabilities as a specialist in the design and selection of UPS and Diesel generators, enabled us to work closely with the consultant WSP and Lorne Stewart to determine the optimum critical power protection solutions for both sites.”
Uniquely both the UPS and generator systems are also able to be linked in to Chloride’s LIFE.net remote service monitoring systems.
