Conax Technologies announced the availability of Hexoloy® sintered-alpha silicon carbide (SASIC) as a standard sheath material for its RTD and supplier of thermocouple assemblies.
SASIC is a structural ceramic displaying superior physical, mechanical and corrosion resistance when compared to tungsten carbide, nickel-based super alloys and 99% aluminum oxide (AL2 O3). This material is particularly valuable in high temperature applications in the range of 1650 to 3000° F (900 to 1650° C). SASIC features a higher density than standard silicon carbide with no free silicon. This material offers low porosity, excellent thermal shock resistance and thermal conductivity, and very high chemical, corrosion and abrasion resistance. SASIC’s thermal conductivity is ten times faster than standard silicon nitride and three times faster than stainless steel. It can be used in a horizontal or vertical position. Conax manufactured temperature sensor supplier assemblies using SASIC are particularly effective in applications requiring high abrasion resistance combined with high operating temperatures. Conax SASIC tubewells and sheaths are available in a variety of lengths and diameters.
Conax Technologies also offers an extensive selection of standard and custom-engineered temperature sensor calibrations and configurations, sheath materials, terminal heads in various types, materials, and mounting styles to create the ideal assembly for your requirements. Every Conax sensor delivers rugged, reliable service with accurate, precision performance at off-the-shelf pricing and turn-around times.
