The SMT-8800 is powered by Samsung's reliable 800 MHz processor and Windows Mobile 6.5. Its 3.5“ / 8.9cm transflective display offers a resolution of 240 x 320 (QVGA) image pixels. Due to its resistive touch screen, it can be operated by finger or using a stylus. In addition, a numerical keyboard facilitates data entry preventing possible errors.
STM-8800 – The Multi Talent
Due to its numerous extension possibilities, the PDA is used in a variety of different application areas, such as e.g. logistics or field service. Barcode scanner (1D/2D), RFID reader and a 2-megapixel camera with LED flash are optionally available for quick and reliable data acquisition. For network communication the STM-8800 is equipped with an 802.11b/g WLAN module. Bluetooth is available for the wireless connection of peripheral equipment. A GPS receiver is available for satellite-supported navigation and a 2G (GPRS/EDGE) or 3G (UMTS/HSDPA) module for data and location transmission. A telephone function is then implemented as well.
Further technical features are 256 MB main memory and 1 GB FlashRom read-only memory. Numerous ports, such as an external microphone and headset connection, or a SD-card slot and a Mini USB connection are included in the standard configuration. The STM-8800 is accommodated in a robust housing complying with the guidelines of the water and dust protection class IP54 (waterproof). The ergonomically designed PDA measures 61 x 77 x 27 mm and has a total weight of 300 g including the rechargeable battery.
