Wampfler has developed a new electrical friction professional wheel drive for the W5-traxX media supply system. This greatly enhances the spectrum of use and performance capability of demanding assembly lines.

The new friction wheel drive features adjustable speed controls of up to 20 m/min and moves payloads of up to 100 kilograms. Its compact form enables conveyor supplier systems in closed rail systems using curved professional profiles – this makes it possible to achieve radii of up to 800 mm. Both the drive and control unit are based on a 24 VDC motor. Limitation of the radius of operation and reverse motion are controlled using an inductive limit switch. The small SPS can be programmed freely, making it possible to specifically adapt the solution to a variety of customer requirements.

The W5-traxX media supply system integrates the pneumatics line into an aluminium carrier profile and continuously supplies mobile consumers with compressed air, electrical energy and data via energy guiding chains, conductor tracks or festoon systems. An adaptable, contact-free position gauging system complements the range and permits exact determination of the position of the trolley and automated data acquisition in the assembly line.
