MAXI LINE Travelling column grinding machines DELTA

  • MAXI LINE Travelling column grinding machines
The surface grinding machines of the line MAXI are advanced
technology machines. They are designed for mass working where high production capacity, high precision, and reliability are required. The project, entirely carried out with modern CAD systems is modular and provides for maximum transversal
grindings of 750, 775 and 1000 mm, longitudinal ones of 1200, 1500, 2000, 2500 and 3000 mm. All the MAXI machines are characterized by a travelling column architecture (T-line) which ensures that the geometrical precisions provided for by the strictest testing specifications are constantly respected.

The optimized size of the machine is the result of a careful analysis of the structure with the finite elements method carried out with the co-operation of the DIPARTIMENTO DI INGEGNERIA MECCANICA DEL POLITECNICO
DI MILANO, followed by a series of experimental tests with strain gauges in order to find out the most stressed sections.

The MAXI machines consist entirely of double chamber structures reinforced with thick ribs in stabilized Meehanite cast iron, and are characterized by high damping coefficient in order to give the maximum stiffness and stability to the system. The slides of the wheel head rest for their whole length and along the whole vertical traverse on those of the column. The column is in complete contact with the transversal base during the whole traverse.

The same is for the slides of the table, which, even at the maximum longitudinal hunting, are always in complete contact with those
of the longitudinal base, whose length is more than twice as much. All slides, both plane and V-shaped, are included in the cast iron and ground in order to optimize the hydrostatic lubrication which allows to eliminate completely the sliding friction
and thus to use in the best way the power installed, and ensures, at the same time, regular movements without wear or stick slip, even at a very low speed. The hydrostatic lubrication is used on all the machine axes.
