Bespoke solutions make the world more accessible

On December 29, 2009 the new Machine Standard 2006/42/EG will come into effect. It will replace the existing Machine Standard 95/16/EG without any transition period. This will change the situation for the platform or home-lifts considerably. The new Machine Standard no longer defines any exceptions from the EN 81-1 und -2 standard. Any restrictions of the validity of the EN 81-1 and -2 standard are then determined by the (still pr)EN 81-41. This standard applies to all lifts, whose travel speed is not higher than 0,15 m/sec and whose cabin is not completely closed. The safety requirements of the prEN 81-41 are considerably higher than that of the Machine Standard 95/16/EG. Home- or platformlifts that don’t comply with these requirements may not be installed after the new Machine Standard has come into effect on December 19, 2009.

Quite a lot of the prEN 81-41 requirements are already met on a voluntary basis by the DICTATOR Homelift DHM300, because when designing the DHM300 homelift DICTATOR has oriented itself quite a lot on the construction of „real“ lifts in order to offer the user the best possible safety, highest comfort and a reliably long-term function.

The prEN 81-41 requirements that had not yet been realized in the present standard design have been included in the revised and improved new DHM300 model, so that the new Machine Standard represents no problem for DICTATOR.

However the DHM300 is not only characterized by its high quality and lift-like construction. The purpose of the prEN 81-41 is amongst others to allow persons with impaired mobility unrestricted access also to buildings with several floors. And this has also got highest priority with DICTATOR. Therefore the DICTATOR DHM300 homelift is produced in bespoke design, allowing for the optimal use of the available space. This means that it offers a solution for a lot of persons in whose home a homelift with standard dimensions cannot be installed. For example DICTATOR offered a solution for a existing lift shaft of 760 x 1150 mm. In another case the well hole of a staircase offered a space of 950 x 1400 mm for a DICTATOR lift shaft system with a DHM300 homelift.
