eks Engel shows new generation of compact splice box eks Engel GmbH & Co. KG
The new generation of the compact splice box FIMP, which eks first showed at the SPS/IP/Drives in Nu-remberg, can be equipped with two splice holders. Thus, it is possible to have 24 fibers instead of 12 when using LC quattro couplings. However, the ro-bust metal housing is only 115 x 61 x 113 mm (H x W x D). If only one splice holder is used it can be ro-tated 360 degrees and be positioned in different ways. Furthermore, the splice box contains shorter blank holders that facilitate the insertion of the pig-tails. In order to fix them and to stick to the corres-ponding bending radiuses, there are special bored holes for the cable entry. The splice box can either be mounted on a DIN rail or onto the wall. Due to its various possibilities for cable entry, the splice box is a good solution when it comes to automation net-works with bus or ring topologies. A 19’’ housing with three splice cassettes allows using FIMP in a switch cabinet.
The splice box has a symmetrical design that allows the flexible positioning of the front panel. Due to already available equipment such as splice holders, couplings, pigtails and cable glands, it can quickly and easily be installed. Since the hole for the cable gland is a slot hole, the fiber optic cable can be spliced outside the housing and put into it afterwards.
FIMP is suitable for SMA, ST, SC, LC, FC, E2000 and MPO (Multipath Push-On). Moreover, patch cables allow the flexible use of different connector types. An optional protection cap protects pigtails and couplings against mechanical influences. For splicing you can demount the front panel and the cassette which contains a 2 meter pigtail set.
