What's already important for the office and IT sector, is getting more and more interesting for industrial automation, too: Components in ”XS” size.
However, solutions for industries with rough conditions have to be particularly robust. The best example for that is the new and very small Industrial Ethernet media converter e-lightxs from eks Engel.
The e-lightxs has a dimension of 80 x 62 x 25 mm and it only weighs 200 g. Nevertheless, it guarantees high flexibility and safety in a large variety of indoor and outdoor applications where there is lack of space. The housing of this tiny switch is made of powder-coated stainless steel. Apart from a wide temperature range of -30°C to +75°C, it features an input voltage range of 12 – 24 VDC. A mains adapter for 230 VAC can additionally be ordered.
Closer to the scene of action
With e-lightxs eks Engel presents an Industrial Ethernet media converter that is very close to automation and safety-related applications. That is why the device can be installed in very small housings (e.g. a camera housing) or next to a robot without any problems.
Open to anything
e-lightxs is open to all types of fiber such as POF, multimode, singlemode and HCS (PCF). One of the advantages when using HCS instead of glass fiber is the more economical installation which allows the realization of diverse and economical applications. Furthermore, the newly-developed e-lightxs supports the fiber-saving one fiber BiDi technology for multimode and singlemode.
In addition to that, the miniature media converter is also very flexible regarding the connector type since it supports SMA, ST, SC, FC-PC, SC-BiDi and E2000. POF fibers (980/1000µm) can even be connected without any connector thanks to a special clamp lock.
Anything is possible
In its standard version, the e-lightxs is available as Industrial Ethernet switch converter with Cut Through and Store & Forward mode. On request, the device can also be offered as a real and industry-suitable Ethernet media converter with Converter Mode or Auto Converter Mode respectively. The advantage of the integrated Pass-Through Mode is its extremely short latency. This guarantees a direct dataflow without any time lag or intermediate storage.
e-lightxs can either be mounted onto a DIN EN rail or onto the wall, i.e. a high-quality clip for the DIN-EN rail is already included in the scope of delivery.
