The new professional encoders series EM/EMA by the Italian company ELAP S.p.A. (www.elap.it) operate according to the magnetic principle: the rotation of a permanent magnetic placed on the encoder shaft generates a sinusoidal magnetic field on 360 degrees. The electronic circuitry provides as output the absolute position and incremental pulses.
This kind of encoders offer better performances in terms of resistance to vibrations and shocks, and higher protection against environmental agents in respect to optical encoders, they can therefore be applied in environment with presence of oil, dust or solvents.
The new encoders are available both in the incremental (series EM/REM) and in the single turn absolute type (named EMA/REMA), in many different mechanical versions: round flange, servo coupling, flange type RE0444, 63.5 mm square flange, hollow shaft.
As far as the electronic specifications are concerned, the incremental type EM/REM is available with a pulses/revolution number ranging from 100 to 2048, suppy 5/24, 10/24 or 5/24 Vdc, push-pull or line driver output.
The absolute encoder EMA/REMA is provided with resolution range between 8 and 13 bit, binary code, SSI serial output and suppy 5/24, 10/24 or 5/24 Vdc.
