MiniTest 7400 – Sophisticated precision coating thickness gauge ElektroPhysik Dr. Steingroever GmbH & Co. KG

ElektroPhysik Cologne has launched MiniTest 7400 coating thickness gauge with convenient data management and comprehensive data evaluation.

MiniTest 7400 measures non-magnetic coatings such as paint, enamel and and non-ferrous metals on steel as well as insulating coatings on non-ferrous metal substrates. The gauge is designed for use in all fields of industrial corrosion protection.

Depending on the coating to be measured, the substrate material and geometry, a wide range of interchangeable sensors with a measuring range of up to 35 mm is available in order to meet a maximum of measuring requirements. The sensors can easily be changed via a push-pull connection system. Furthermore, all sensors can optionally be ordered with a right-angle cable outlet allowing measurements of samples which are difficult to access such as tubes or hollow parts. For the use in rough and/or dirty environments, ElektroPhysik offers a special range of HD “heavy duty” sensors.

All sensors feature the SIDSP® technology developed by ElektroPhysik. With this technology, the complete measuring technique is integrated into the sensor. Only completely processed digital readings are transmitted to the measuring gauge so that there will be no interference during the transfer of data via the sensor cable. Thus, the gauge offers an excellent reproducibility and quality of readings.

Depending on the application, up to 500 different measuring groups can be created by using the software Msoft 7 Professional or the configuration assistant of the gauge. The measuring groups are memorized in a freely selectable configuration of directories and subdirectories which can additionally be named alphanumerically.

A large data memory allows a storage of up to 250.000 readings in a maximum of 500 measuring groups.

The data evaluation provides number of readings, minimum, maximum, average, standard deviation, coefficient of variation, block statistics (norm-conforming/free configurable), process capability indices Cp and Cpk, histogram and trend diagram. Moreover, an online statistics shows the actual analysis of readings on the large display.

Where necessary, the sensors can be calibrated at a maximum of 5 points (incl. zero). Predefined calibration methods are available to carry out measurements conforming to the Industrial norms and standards ISO 19840, SSPC,“Swedish”, “Australian”. In addition, a special calibration method is available for measurements on rough surfaces.
