With immediate effect the safety relay SIS212 presented by ELESTA relays GmbH of CH-7310 Bad Ragaz at the Hanover Fair 2004 is available in sensitive execution. The coil's rated capacity is 0.4 Watt. While the relay responds already at 0.22 Watt, the excitation voltage can subsequently be reduced even further. In reduced operation the relay gets by with an absolutely minimal inherent consumption (holding capacity) of as little as 0.05 Watt. This "low power" version permits to keep the coil's generation of heat at a very low level. Despite the low drive capacity there is no need to accept any losses on the contact side.
This results in distinct advantages for the user and opens up new application areas. The relay can be used in tightest spaces where cooling problems exist. Taking up a mere 7.85 cm3, the SIS 212 with 3 forcibly guided contacts is currently the smallest relay on the market worldwide. And the miniaturization has not been achieved at the expense of safety. Big air gaps and tracking distances with accordingly high test voltage values guarantee a safe separation of the current circuits. The coil's low power dissipation means that the circuit for relay activation can be kept simple with inexpensive components. The relay is installed directly on the professional printed circuit board with solder connections. The coil is monostable and of neutral execution. Coils can be produced for all common voltages from 5 to 110 VDC.
