Elfab, Europe’s leading manufacturer of pressure-relief systems, has improved its non-invasive burst detection system, Flo-Tel™.

The new Flo-Tel™ + combines all the benefits of Elfab’s original burst detection system but now has the added advantage of an in-built thermistor, allowing customers to monitor process temperature. Undetected temperature changes can affect both the burst pressure of a disc and other key process parameters. With the introduction of Flo-Tel™ +, Elfab has provided the means to manage this issue.

Flo-Tel™ + is an ATEX-approved magnetic detection system, installed on the vent side of a bursting disc to minimise process downtime. Unlike traditional membrane-type detectors, Flo-Tel + is fail-safe and only operates when a disc has ruptured, thereby eliminating false alarms.

Compatible with all of Elfab’s core product lines, Flo-Tel™ + is suitable for use in all levels of potentially explosive atmospheres in process temperatures ranging from -100°C to 300°C. Flo-Tel™ + will support Elfab’s radio communication detection system, Radio-Tel, to be launched in early 2008.

Since the launch of Flo-Tel™ in 2003, Elfab has sold many thousands of units of this detection system to customers worldwide. Existing users of Flo-Tel™ can upgrade to Flo-Tel™ + at a special introductory price. Customers wanting to change over to new Flo-Tel™ + should contact Elfab for advice.
