BCU® 400 burner control units

The BCU® 400 burner control units comprise all the functions required for the operation of an industrial gas burner in a single metal housing. The integrated operating and diagnostics unit on the BCU® 400 burner control unit indicates the relevant operating stages as well as the flame signal and unit parameters. Using an optical interface and the PC software “BCSoft”, the unit can also be adjusted retrospectively to the relevant application by resetting individual parameters. Extensive diagnostic tools and the history storage integrated in the BCUâ 400 provide the user with detailed information on the status of the heating equipment.

The BCU® 440 is designed for use in applications with directly ignited, ionisation-controlled burners with a rating of up to 350 kW and with single-stage or modulating control. The connectors are optimised for zonal wiring. This makes it possible to produce low-cost electrical in-series installations in the form of jointly wired starting and reset signals and also general fault signals. If the restart feature is active, the burner control unit will automatically restart the burner after a flame failure – ensuring high system availability.

The BCU® 460 also has a second valve output and is therefore suitable for directly ignited burners of unlimited capacity. The burners may be modulating or stage-controlled. The BCU 460-L version has an integrated flexible air valve control.

The system can be optimally matched to the application by ensuring minimum combustion and pause times, which can be set with ease. The adjustable minimum pause time also permits the burner to be restarted if it has slow-closing air control elements. This increases the availability of the burner equipment. The burner can be powered down over time in a controlled way with pneumatic combination controls using the function “Low fire over run time” and the low-fire rate position.

The flame can be controlled either with ionisation current, UV cell or a temperature monitor.

The Profibus-DP interface, which is an option with the BCU 460, enables the unit to be embedded perfectly in automated system environments. Particularly with heating equipment that covers a large area with many burner control units, the BCUâ 400, together with the Profibus, allows the system to be controlled perfectly as well as enabling user-friendly remote servicing “down to the last control element”.

The BCU® 400 Series is EC type-tested and certified.
