Elster GmbH is supplementing its controller series with heat pump governor Merlin 5164T, which is designed as a wall-mounted unit and can be operated in six languages.

The heat pump controller’s illuminated, alphanumeric matrix display industrial guides the user through the settings levels in the language of his choice, the respective selection option being displayed in text form. Therefore, the parameter assignment process for the wide range of functions offered by this controller is designed to be especially user-friendly. The heat pump controller is configured via a system selection function that automatically preconfigures all relevant settings.

The Merlin 5164T allows up to four heat pumps to be controlled in cascade and their enable/start is made possible using four floating relays. The heat industrial generator can be enabled automatically via the time programs.

In addition, the product has a 0 – 10 V output for feedforwarding the temperature setpoint. It supports both mono and dual mode operation and is equipped with a utility contact to block the heat generator externally. The heat pump controller is designed to control a direct and mixed heating circuit which can be extended by up to 15 mixed heating circuits. Furthermore, the Merlin 5164T allows other alternative energies – such as solar systems – to be integrated into the heating system.

The standard functions of the new heat pump controller include swimming pool control, return temperature increase via professional mixer, fixed value control, additional hot-water generation or header pump. The product’s scope of functions is rounded off by the integrated cooling function.
