Cleveland, September 20, 2007 – EMX Industries Inc., a manufacturer of sensors for automation, introduces the CMYX color mark sensor. It is the fastest sensor on the market, capable of detecting 0.5mm PHARMA-CODE at speeds of 2000ft/min. Standard size color marks are detected at speeds exceeding 10,000 ft/min. A round 0.4mm light spot provides for high resolution and flexible mounting. High contrast sensitivity enables reliable detection of 10% yellow on glossy white background.


High resolution at high speed
Operating at 40 KHz with a round light spot of less than 0.5mm, the CMYX achieves resolution that is unique in the industry. With the introduction of condensed codes and triangular marks, higher resolution becomes critical for reliable operation at high speeds.

The majority of high quality color mark sensors on the market today operate in the 25KHz range or below and their spot size is a 2x4mm rectangle. The higher operating speed of the CMYX is an obvious advantage, but the CMYX also has a 0.4mm round light spot that is crucial in detecting marks that are smaller than 2mm. This is something the other sensors cannot do.

Flexible mounting
In addition, the CMYX’s round spot allows the mounting of the sensor to be flexible in its orientation. Standard color mark sensors with rectangular light spots can be mounted only in one direction, which is parallel to the color mark on the target.
