Golden, Colo. – (June 18, 2008) Epilog Industrial laser, the leading producer CO2 and fiber laser engraving, marking and cutting systems today announced the launch of the 30-watt FiberMark, the first system of its kind designed for permanent bare metal marking.
Previously available in only 10 or 20-watt models, the new 30-watt FiberMark offers more power and speed in conjunction with an already extremely user-friendly interface and generous engraving area.
“Users will notice a definite increase in productivity,” said Bob Henry, FiberMark product manager. “We’re seeing the 30-watt system do most of the same applications in nearly half the time of the lower wattage machines.”
“Additionally we’re noticing more color differentiation from the 30-watt system,” Henry said. “Typically metal etching results in a black mark on top of the metal surface; however, with the 30-watt machine, on certain metals we’re seeing reds, greens and purples. While different colors can be challenging to produce because you must determine just the right settings for different metals, it definitely can be done.”
“From the aerospace industry to medical device manufacturing to electronic product design, we’re seeing a dramatic increase in the need for permanent marking solutions,” explains Henry. “The FiberMark was designed specifically for permanent bare-metal marking, which regardless of industry, can help increase traceability and strengthen identification processes for any metal part, component or device.”
