It is now possible to produce a powerful industrial inverter welding power source not much bigger than a shoebox – that is what EWM have proved with the new PICOTIG 180. With a net weight of just 6.9 kilograms, this powerful miniature powerhouse is capable of delivering a 180 Ampere welding current for creating joints using the TIG technique (with non-contact HF ignition and Liftarc) – or a whole 150 Ampere for MMA welding.
Its low weight ensures that the unit is quick and simple to use, whether it is for assembly work or on the construction site. All manner manual joining tasks can be completed, be it for heating and ventilation systems, metalwork, window and conservatory construction or roofing work. This compact unit also shows its strength and versatility on industrial construction sites - from the food industry to the chemical industry, from constructing pipelines, containers, instruments, and vehicles, to machinery, plant and tools.
Depending on the welding technique used (TIG or MMA), the power source allows welding of non-alloy, low-alloy and high-alloy steels, copper and copper alloys, nickel-based alloys and special materials such as cast aluminium.
The numerous special features of the PICOTIG 180 make it the trump card in the pack for many other reasons. The unit delivers top performance across a wide range of mains voltages (from 138 to 265 Volts), something that is not uncommon with the weak and fluctuating networks and long power cables found on construction sites. The system is also 100 percent generator-compatible. Another bonus is the equally new, self-explanatory T 1.80 control system.
