Press release from GarrettCom Europe - 2007-08-20

Modbus/TCP support is now available in MNS software for DX Serial Device Routers

With the introduction of Modbus serial and Modbus/TCP support to its DX series device professional routers, GarrettCom Europe is providing users with a simple means of integrating their existing serial Modbus devices with newer Ethernet-enabled devices on a Modbus/TCP network. The ground-breaking DX range provides intelligent serial-to-IP/Ethernet protocol services.

The MNS-DX Modbus/TCP functionality allows simultaneous client and server operation, including support for multiple serial master and slave Modbus devices. It supports both the Modbus RTU and Modbus ASCII serial protocol variants, and allows Modbus Plus industrial gateway exceptions to provide feedback to master devices when network configuration or communication errors occur.

There are two models the DX range: the DX800 supports four serial connections and four Ethernet connections, including two fibre ports, while the DX40 provides two serial ports and two Ethernet ports.

The DX serial device routers offer significant advantages over more basic Serial-IP devices such as terminal professional servers and equipment servers. The DX serial device routers provide network resiliency via secure, dual-connection fibre-optic Ethernet ports and software features such as RSTP and dynamic IP routing.

Users may see the benefits of migrating to Modbus/TCP, but not at the expense of discarding the existing serial infrastructure. With the MNS-DX Modbus/TCP software, GarrettCom Europe has the solution.
