GEA Ergé Spirale operates the biggest automatic crimping machine in the world

In an air cooler, perfect contact between the tubes and fins is essential for the thermal efficiency of the unit. This is the reasoning behind GEA Ergé Spirale's decision to install the world's largest automatic crimping machine. This entirely automatic tool is capable of crimping 12 tubes, each fifteen metres long, at the same time. Oil is spread homogenously over all the surface of each tube, and the movement of the crimping bars is motorised over the geometry of the entire bunch, which provides optimum working conditions for the operators.

Crimping times for the production of a 13 metre-long bunch have been divided by 6. As the Industrial Director of GEA Ergé Spirale declared, "This is a technical revolution!".
