Goudsmit Magnetic Supplies B.V. has recently added a series of new pot magnets to its existing range. The pot magnets, constructed from the rare earth materials samarium-cobalt and neodymium-iron-boron, are easier to attach than previously. Both types have a threaded end, threaded bush or countersunk hole. As a result of cooperation with its sister company Alligator Plastics, the company is able to offer pot magnets that are coated with plastic such as ABS, PS, PC or PP, which may be flame-retardant and/or electrically conductive. This offers possibilities for the most complex plastic shapes up to a weight of 400 grams. There is also the option of coating with 2 different kinds of plastic.
One attraction surface
Pot magnets have only have attraction surface and are therefore very strong. Because of its design, none of the other sides are magnetic, which prevents further spreading of the magnetic field. Work pieces or machine parts in the vicinity of the pot magnet are therefore not magnetised. Pot magnets are used in, for example, the metal and steel industry and tool shops and are used to position ferrous-magnetic work pieces.
