Fully-automatic Brinell hardness testing system
The Hegewald & Peschke GmbH was able to provide a well-known German producer of aluminium cylinder crankcases with a fully-automatic Brinell hardness testing system.
The test centre includes a Brinell hardness testing device with fully-automatic indentation measurement, a specimen marking station, moving floors for the transport of the crankcases to and from the test station, and an industrial roboter that handles the specimens inside the test centre.
When a cylinder crankcase arrives at the test centre, it is identified with the help of a camera system and its serial number. Then, the roboter places the crankcase below a Brinell hardness tester. Usually, the system places 4 indentations on the specimen, which is positioned precisely with the help of an X-Y cross table. The Brinell-indentations are then measured by a fully-automatic camera system.
After the measurements and determination of the hardness values, the specimens are removed by the roboter and separated into good and bad crankcases.
