Two leading UK road tanker manufacturers have discovered that by simply using Huntingdon Fusion Technique Limited’s (HFT) weld backing tape for the linear and circumferential welds on their stainless steel tankers, they have make significant savings.

- Purge Gas quantity is dramatically reduced, along with the set up time.
- Weld drop through is eliminated along with the necessity for back-gouging and two sided welding.
- The use and complicated set up of expensive backing bars has been eliminated.

HFT have recently extended their range of weld backing tapes. There are now three different grades of tape being manufactured, to accommodate welding currents up to 240 Amps.

As well as being suitable for road tankers, the tape is ideal for all other cylindrical items and sheet metal work.

Apart from the advantages mentioned above, it is significant that with the use of Argweld® Weld Backing tape, the backside of the weld is flat, smooth and oxide free.
