Cologne – INTACTON GmbH extends its product range, adding a highly com-pact sensor with infrared laser illumination for non-contact length and velocity measurement of yard and piece goods. Thanks to its new measuring principle, the system is especially suited for reflective or glossy surfaces which are prob-lematic for other sensors. OPTIPACT-L units are installed at a 30 mm working distance from the object to be measured and tolerate distance deviations of up to 25%. The sensors are designed for a 2.5 m/s speed range. Depending on the model, they provide a maximum resolution of 7.5 µm. Measuring merely 120 x 42 x 35 mm and weighing 0.2 kg, the units require little installation space and can be easily integrated in virtually any application. They are connected to higher-level control systems via an incremental interface.
