INTACTON GmbH, a subsidiary of the FRABA group, has developed an optical movement sensor which enables reliable speed and length measurement on rugged or structured surfaces and ensures careful material handling. Thanks to its non-contact measuring method, the OPTIPACT sensor is suitable for yard goods such as cardboard or corrugated board which are problematic for conventional industrial measuring systems. Furthermore, measuring errors caused by slip, deformation or accumulated dust and dirt are eliminated. OPTIPACT sensors are designed for a maximum speed range up to 4 m/s. Depending on the model, they have a maximum resolution of 15 µm. Measuring only 98 x 42 x 47 mm (the OEM model's dimensions are 77 x 31 x 35 mm), the sensors can be easily integrated into almost any automation environment. They are connected to higher-level controllers via incremental interface.
