How do you increase the batch weight of a retort furnace without increasing production and operating costs? Developers at Ipsen took on this challenge and came up with a revolutionary answer: The new Multi Treater in which the batch hearth is uniquely separated from the retort and fastened to a cross beam affixed to the furnace housing.

This strategy allows us to more than double the maximum batch weight while retaining the original furnace size. Whereas a conventional size 17 furnace can typically handle a batch weight of approximately 2,000 kg, the new Ipsen Multi Treater can manage batches up to 5,000 kg at 600°C, and up to 3,000 kg at 750°C. The new patented construction also decreases the wear of the retort material which in turn significantly increases the retort service life by lease 100%! In addition, the cooling speed has been drastically increased by the new high-speed cooler. The result: Up to 30% shorter cycle times.
