Advanced, Quick Change Workholding From ITW Workholding

ITW Workholding is proud to announce an advancement in workholding technology. The Woodworth ABL, pull down, ball chuck. This is not a step in a new direction, but a leap, in ball chuck technology.

Start with the composite core body. This offers customers a low mass chucking solution that greatly extends the life of your machine spindle, as compared to similar steel body designs. Also, the decreased weight, means increased savings in energy consumption. Does your company have a "green" initiative. This would be your "green" solution. Cycle times reduced due to low mass workholding. Spindle speed ramp up / ramp down time is reduced due to reduced weight on the spindle. The composite core body also provides a dampening affect, improving harmonics in turning operations.

Combined with the composite core body, ITW Workholding has also introduced a quick change, post style, jaw mount. This jaw mount utilizes a geared tooth form to allow jaw changeover in under 1 minute. The post style arm provides greater space to allow for better chip shed during heavy turning operations.

Also updated is a 1 piece upper bearing, that greatly eases maintenance of the chuck and reduces grease loss.

In total, the Woodworth ABL is up to 40% lighter than the current UBL design. That 40% reduction in mass, combined with the quick change jaw mount, equate to increased profits for your business.
