New Multifunction Tachometer Features Bluetooth Displays
Faced with the dilemma of how to connect multiple professional displays to their new generation T600 line of tachometers, JAQUET engineers turned to Bluetooth technology to provide the solution.
The T600 base model provides 2 frequency, 1 analogue and 2 binary inputs. The output control functions comprising of 2 analogues, 4 relays and 2 open collectors are then defined using resident configuration professional software. Output functions may either be simple relationships to inputs such as 4…20mA = 500…1500Hz, or complex System Limit operations such as Relay 1 Open at Frequency Input A Limit 1 OR Frequency Input B Limit 2 OR Analogue input Limit 3 (Fail Safe). A typical application for this feature is protecting a machine from running too fast or too hot through a single shutdown command.
An Ethernet interface is provided for configuration and device interrogation, with a CANbus connection to provide status information to a master controller.
Only one display would be a limiting factor. After connecting a compact Bluetooth base module, up to 7 displays may then be operated, each showing different data if required. So display 1 might provide the ratio between 2 speed inputs whilst displays 2 and 3 show the absolute values, with display 4 giving temperature from a directly connected Pt100.
The safety function is rated SIL2 and the whole unit carries Lloyds approval for use on ships.
