The three-position enabling device JSHD4 from Jokab Safety has been further developed with sensors for human hand detection as well a with AS-i connections for Safety and machine control.

In order to give an output signal, a human hand is needed to grip the handle and a pair of three position pushbuttons has to be pressed to the middle position. When the switch is released or pressed to the third position, a double stop signal is given. The sensor, which ensures that the pushbuttons are pressed by a human hand, increases the safety level by preventing any manipulations.

The AS-i nodes inside the enabling device increases the ergonomics in such a way that only two wires need to be connected to the device. This way light-weight cables with M12 connections can be used which has advantages for the ergonomics as well as for cost reduction on cables.
