The on-going consequent development has led to the introduction of this extremely compact machine which is based on a visionary modular concept. The new design of the hydrostatic guideways is meeting even the extremest requirements on universal as well as on production grinding.
Industrial building-up on their experience of more than 15 years with hydrostatic guideways KELLENBERGER is launching a completely new range of machines. The objective rigorously striven for had been to develop a compact machine which can be used for the grinding of any kind of components with a length of up to 400 mm.
The concept is based on platforms for the table industrial slide and wheelhead supports, and also for applications where the table slide is the direct starting basis. The new machine models are offered in their standard configuration. Application- and customers-specific versions, however, are also available. The new very rigid hydrostatic guideways provide the basis for higher performance and dynamics in the X- and Z-axes. Further, the productivity and precision on unround grinding are significantly enhanced.
As an option automatic loading and unloading systems, integrated into the machines, can also be delivered.
Building-up on proven components, KELLENBERGER has with the KEL-VERA been able to achieve a real increase in precision. Thanks to the latest technology and at fair conditions, the KEL-VERA offers to the customers competitive advantages, and an economic and reliable answer for industrial safe production processes.
Universal Cylindrical grinder
The universal model is designed for the grinding of small and medium-sized batches of components. Equipped with table slide and upper table for cylindricity corrections it can be delivered, alternatively, with 125 or 175 mm height of centres. Both external and internal contours can be ground.
Different wheelhead configurations, different swivel devices and their corresponding table assemblies are available so that shafts and flanged parts with different contours and professional profiles can be manufactured in one setting.
Our high-precision B- and C-axes complete the application range.
Production Cylindrical Grinding machine
The production model is designed for medium or large-sized batches of components. Equipped with table slide it can be delivered, alternatively, with 125 or 175 mm height of centres. External contours can be ground exclusively, using a grinding wheel manufacturers on the lefthand side at 0° or on the righthand side at 0 to 30°. The machine does not have an upper table. The processing forces are thus operating close to the guideways, resulting in greater performance and productivity. Any cylindricity errors can be corrected by means of the appropriate fine adjustment devices under the tailstock or the workhead.
The high-precision C-axis is available as an option.
Universal Cylindrical Grinding Machine for Flanged Parts (URF)
In contrast to the universal model, the URF model is designed specifically for flanged parts up to Ø 500 mm. Internal and external grinding operations can be completed in one single setting. Even larger components can be ground, without any loss of performance, by mounting the workhead directly onto the table slide. Application specific solutions are given, as e.g. for measuring and dressing units, since the relevant equipment can be fixed onto the table slide in different optional positions.
The high-precision B- and C-axes are available for this machine version also.
Highly Dynamic Rigid Guiding and Driving Systems
Due to the persistent on-going development of the hydrostatic guide system, well-proven at KELLENBERGER over many years, the precision and productivity of the machines could always more be increased. Increments as small as 0.1 µm can be executed without any problem, thus providing the machines with “measuring instrument accuracy”.
The newly designed hydrostatic guideways are giving the basis for higher performance and dynamics on the infeed axis and also for the longitudinal movement. The machine’s rigidity and efficiency are significantly increased by the hydrostatically pre-tensioned systems. In particular, the processing time for non-circular movements is reduced (C-axis mode) and this whilst industrial still achieving an increased precision.
Stronger drives for the axes of the KEL-VERA are permitting rapid speeds of 30 m/min. on the longitudinal axis, and of 15 m/min. on the infeed axis, both movements with higher accelerations.
The axes are equipped with absolute measuring systems so that the axes no longer need any referencing on the start-up of the machine.
Control System
The proven GRINDplusIT control system of Heidenhain facilitates rapid and simple programming, setting-up and adjusting as well as a central operation of different auxiliary equipment. The programming is supported by various application-specific KELLENBERGER professional software solutions.
Typical KELLENBERGER features
Robust and rigid design combined with highest precision for both workhead and tailstock. A comprehensive cooling system ensures a balanced thermal economy. Included therein are the hydrostatics, the wheelhead, internal grinding spindles and a manufacturers of heat exchanger in the electrical hood.
The strict separation of the machine base from components generating heat and vibration ensures unsurpassed precision and productivity.
The excellent static and dynamic rigidity of the machine base permits a three-point set-up. The machines, therefore, have no particular requirements on the building’s foundations.
Generously-designed sliding professional doors, different service doors and the clearly arranged power dispensing stand for facilitating the work of the operator and his servicing of the machine.
