maxon motor, manufacturer of high-precision technical components made of high-performance ceramics, is now offering a new dental drill for metal-free preparation of implant beds. The company is seeking partners for international distribution. The ceramic professional drills are available in seven standard diameters, but can be produced in different sizes if required.
Patients who insist on metal-free treatment for implants and prosthetics often do not want to come into contact with metal in the preparation of their implants either. Users of traditional titanium implants can also benefit from the excellent properties of maxon’s new ceramic drill.
Unlike traditional drills, maxon’s ceramic version is based on three-lip drill geometry, which means that the implantologist can guide the drill securely and quietly. The ZrO2 ceramic cutting edges are exceptionally sharp and undergo almost no wear and tear. Even after 100 applications, they are still sharp, while traditional steel drills must be discarded after around 20 applications. maxon’s ceramic drill can be sterilised at least 100 times in standard autoclaves, representing an environmentally friendly and economic alternative to single-patient drills.
The smooth surface of the new ceramic drills prevents the colonisation of bacteria. The white colour also means that the drilled bone material can be immediately assessed for its re-use for the bone structure. Reading the drill progress is made easier by the space markings engraved with the laser. maxon’s ceramic drill is available in a range of diameters and lengths. If required, maxon can produce these drills in any size, duly branded with the relevant partner firm’s logo...
