Mazak's Ongoing Investment In Kentucky Manufacturing Plant Mazak
The VERSATECH V-140N is a multi-surface, 5-axis double-column machining center for increasing the plant's capability for machining large castings. The machine's 10-meter table will allow for setting up large workpieces outside of the work envelope while the VERSATECH V-140N's 5-axis spindle keeps working uninterrupted. The 10-meter table is structured to provide rigid and distortion-free movement for high accuracy positioning of heavy workpieces. For further increases in productivity, the VERSATECH V-140N's 10,000-rpm 50-hp spindle head delivers full 5-axis machining capability.
The Mazak laser cutting cell will streamline the production of sheetmetal components at the Kentucky plant. The system is fully automated and includes three Optiplex 3015 4,000-W flexible manufacturing systems. Both intelligent monitoring capabilities to facilitate unattended operation and a new Preview II control helps simplify programming and operation.
A new automated painting system with oven is also being installed. The system replaces manual paint spraying and will provide tremendous productivity.
