MK15: SMD Reed Switch as Normally-Closed Contact (1B)
MEDER electronic offers a wide range of SMD reed switches in different lengths and terminal designs. All models are divided into different magnetic sensibility groups. They are very advantageous for PCB applications, which demands a complete SMD assembling.
Newly available is the MK15 as a normally-closed contact (1B). The model MK15-B-2-OE sensor is a reed switch, which remains closed outside of a magnet field, but its closure will be broken up when a magnet approaches to it.
The professional switches of Lead-Design-2 version can be assembled as normal SMD components. Or with straight contact terminal in Lead-Design-1, it can be mounted in a PCB slot in order to reduce the thickness of PCB units. Switch components are delivered in Tape-&-Professional reel package (IEC 60286-3) for automatic pick-and-place assembling.
These reed switches are all over-moulded with plastic material and are lead-free solderable according to JEDEC Norm J-STD-020C. The rectangular construction makes it possible for automatic Pick-&-Place handling without that the components are damaged or turn down during manufacturing process.
The dimension of this MK15-B-2-OE measures 16.5x2.5x3.75 mm (LxBxH).
With these sensors designed as normally-closed or normally-open contact, the switching performance can be achieved up to 10W at maximum 100VDC, respectively 0.5A.
Characteristic applications of MK15-B-2-OE are found in position detecting or as end-position switching on SMD printing circuit boards with dense space conditions; they can be also used in all battery-powered devices as sensor with the least power consumption
