Mitsubishi Electric announces the launch of the new FX3UC controller, a particularly compact and space-saving addition to their most powerful line of compact Plcs, the MELSEC FX3U series. At the same time, the company is also celebrating a new record: Mitsubishi Electric has now sold over eight million compact controllers since the release of their first compact PLC in 1981.
The new controller has the same basic technology as the other products in the MELSEC FX3U series but it is only around a quarter as wide. Designed for complex automation tasks, these controllers are among the fastest compact PLC systems on the market, with a processing speed of 0.065µs per logical instruction.
Like all the other controllers in the series, the new MELSEC FX3UC features a second expansion bus system, making the controller particularly flexible. A wide selection of add-on modules are available for configuring customised systems, in particular for communication and positioning tasks.
The MELSEC FX3UC can be connected to all common networks, including Profibus-DP, CC-Link, DeviceNet, CANopen, AS-Interface, Modbus RTU/ASCII and Ethernet.
The new compact PLC is also ideal for positioning tasks, with three pulse outputs and six fast counters with a frequency of up to 100kHz integrated in the base units as standard equipment. Flexible combined industrial counter and positioning can extend the capabilities of the controllers still further, so that they can even handle motion control applications.
