The new mks ES001 simulator provides a practical tool for commissioning, service and troubleshooting. The unit can generate professional encoder signals with outputs A, /A, B, /B, Z, /Z and levels from 5 to 30 volts, including a programmable marker pulse and adjustable direction of rotation (phase A/B). The output frequency is variable from 0 to 500 kHz. Moreover, impulse chains with a counted number of encoder increments can be generated.

The unit is suited for "dry-run" testing with the machine in standstill. It allows testing of wiring and cables and provides easy parameter setting with counters, converters and other target units. In case of malfunctions it may facilitate localisation of the source of error.
