New 2-phase stepping motor with high torque and lower heat generation
In addition to the existing 2-phase stepping motors of the PK-Series
Oriental Motor now offers a high torque version with high efficiency and remarkably reduced case temperature. The new PKE-types are available with 42 mm frame size in three different motor lengths as single shaft and double shaft model.
Heat is one of the main factors which shorten the lifetime of a stepping motor. The temperature of the PKE-types increases up to 78 % less than the conventional standard motor with the same frame size. But no only the lifetime is extended, also the cooling becomes simpler, external cooling devices or cooling fins can be omitted.
Furthermore, these thermal properties enable the motor for continuous operation which is not so easy in case of conventional stepping motors needing cooling periods.
Low power consumption and thus lower carbon dioxide emission make their contribution to the motor’s efficiency. Like the AR stepping motors the PKE-types need about 40 % less energy compared to the conventional standard types.
The PKE-types are available with 42 mm frame size in motor lengths of 33, 39 and 47 mm. The motors can be selected with unipolar and bipolar connection with six or four leads and with single or double shaft. The holding torque is 0.24-0.55 Nm. The motors are compact and lightweight with maximum 390 g mass and even the double shaft version is not longer than 62 mm.
