The Pieralisi Group, in collaboration with the dealers of the socalled Consorzio Obbligatorio degli Oli Usati (Waste Oils Association) has conceived a waste oil pre-treatment process in order to make grading and reconditioning operations easier. In Italy there are over 70 dealers recycling waste oil; they select oils classifying them as “fat emulsions” and “lean emulsions”.
The process designed by the Pieralisi Group makes use of different separation solutions and equipment types; it is aimed at eliminating foreign substances that are usually recovered together with waste oil (water, sludge and metals are the main pollutants to be disposed of).
In order to meet different customer needs, a modular emulsion separation process has been conceived, consisting of:
- Pre-filtration, to eliminate bigger solid particles;
- Heating and recovery: increasing temperature by means of heat exchangers and recovering facilities makes separation of pollutants easier;
- Sediment separation by means of two- and three-phase decanters;
- Oil/water separation and oily water separation using vertical disc-stack separators.
In addition to the single separation modules, equipments with different capacities are available, ranging from 50 to 400 tonnes/day of product to be handled. All equipments are supplied with “turnkey” system.
