BOULDER, Colorado (February 3, 2007): Precision Photonics Corporation (PPC), a leading provider of ultraprecise optics and opto-mechanical assemblies, announces a new family of high-energy plate polarizers and beamsplitter cubes for UV applications. These components utilize PPC’s ion-beam-sputtered (IBS) coating technology and their epoxy-free bonding technology—Chemically Activated Direct Bonding (CADB™)—resulting in professional laser damage thresholds in excess of 2 J/cm2 at 355 nm. In addition to being able to withstand high powers, PPC’s polarizers and polarizing beamsplitters exhibit transmitted wavefront distortions of < /10 p-v at 633 nm and transmitted extinction ratios of up to 1000:1.
The family of standard 0.5” polarizing beamsplitter cubes includes laser-line versions at 1064, 532 and 355 nm, with custom versions available from 266 to 2200 nm, and in sizes from 1 mm3 to 1”. Thin-film plate polarizers are available at both Brewster’s angle and 45˚ incidence angles. These polarizers are environmentally stable and do not have to be angle tuned. Both product types are durable, easy to clean and easy to align, making them ideal for intra-cavity and extra-cavity applications where fluences are greater than 500 mJ/cm2.
Precision Photonics Corporation (PPC) manufactures optical elements and instruments targeting applications in telecommunications, defense, aerospace, biomedical, and semiconductor manufacturing. By applying the latest advances in laser control and precision optical metrology, PPC is able to offer price-competitive, short lead-time manufacturing at the very highest levels of precision.
